Is there any alternatives or competitors to #ActivityPub?

It seems I will either need to have own #Mastodon instance eventually or move to another #ActivityPub compatible software, because I at times have to cut my replies about some experiences of my life into few posts, and client-side web-UI of Mastodon does not have "post whole thread" feature, and default 500 characters or lack of markdown editing feels too limiting for me sometimes.
And this - while I tend just scroll Home feed and boost interesting news or leave short reples most of the time.

“All a ‘true ActivityPub server’ is for is storing data, fanning out subscriptions and collecting incoming data for you to view. #ActivityPub was originally designed so that all of the data presentation layers—Mastodon, PeerTube, Pixelfed—would be specialized clients communicating with the generic server. But the first popular apps cut out the client-to-server part of the protocol, so people think you need a separate identity for every client application. news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4

@evan @wjmaggos ... but that's not what the question is asking. It's intent, and the and in the question aren't referring to specifications, they're referring to communities.

@blaine @wjmaggos The first question asked by the poll is "Would you like to see full default interoperability between #ATproto and #ActivityPub without a bridge?"

The second question is "what's preventing this".

With the addition of the @ktistec account, Ktistec (the server) now supports multiple users.

I still have a few rough edges to fix, but there's a good chance official multi-user support will be included in the next release.

Merke: Mit #GeoIP Blocking „US“ zu blockieren ist schon mal keine gute Idee, wenn man das #ActivityPub Plugin in #Wordpress verwendet… mastodon.sdf.org steht nämlich in den US 😅

No complaints... I more content is better, and more backups are better. But I don't believe
#Misskey supports changing the behavior, from maximalist to minimalist file hosting (proxy content cacheing).

Someday when I get rich, I'll put a little bit of money (or just have enough free time) to build a fully customizable
#ActivityPub backend to my liking.
