I have revamped an old domain of mine after not updating it in over 10 years. It is a landing page for my music work, and a self-hosted newsletter built in #ProcessWire

gavingamboa.net

Starting fresh, and looking forward to adding #ActivityPub integrations over time.

I have a Mastodon List of "Group Accounts", which makes for a good timeline of discussions around specific topics.

I have no idea how @phanpy would accomplish this, but it would be cool to have a type of "Catch Up" page where posts are organized by Group Account, sorted by date and thread.

I mean at that point you might as well just visit PieFed or NodeBB! But it would be nice. :)

How to Install #Pixelfed on #Ubuntu VPS (8 Step Quick-Start Guide)

This article provides a guide for how to install Pixelfed on Ubuntu VPS.
What is Pixelfed?
PixelFed is a decentralized, open-source photo-sharing platform similar to Instagram but built on the #Fediverse (federated social networks using the #ActivityPub protocol). It allows users to host their own instances and interact with users across ...

I'm seeing more and more platform-level activity over on ATproto: Slices is a Heroku-style platform for building apps, for example, and I'm seeing more and more cogs being developed.

Where are the ActivityPub equivalents? I'd still love to see an AP API platform. Am I going to have to build it?

Do you have any documentation or articles to share about this?

I'm guessing that an ActivityPub server running on tor wouldn't be able to Federate with the regular internet. Am I wrong about that?

ActivityBot
"This is a single PHP file - and an .htaccess file - which acts as an extremely basic ActivityPub server for running automated accounts.
This bot can do the following: 🔍 Be discovered on the Fediverse 👉 Be followed by other accounts 🚫 Be unfollowed by accounts 📩 Send messages to the Fediverse 💌 Send direct messages to users 🖼️ Attach an image & alt text to a message 🕸️ Autolink URls, hashtags, and @ mentions 👈 Follow, Unfollow, Block, and Unblock other accounts 🦋 Bridge to BlueSky with your domain name via Bridgy Fed 🚚 Move followers from an old account 🗨️ Allow quote posts 👀 Show followers 🔏 Verify cryptographic signatures 🪵 Log sent messages and errors 🚮 Clear logs when there are too many"

Anyone running any 6 instance using the default ap.ghost.org feature?

I have zero errors in the log, and all works, except when I click in the notes section on any of my posts it states "Profile not found". Also I can't search it on , as well as add any Mastadon accounts to follow but again no errors show up in the logs at all. Following Ghost AP accounts works just fine as well as browsing the profiles.

Any ideas?

RE: colours.bots.edent.tel/posts/6

Hey you! Would you like to learn how works?

I have a *single-file* ActivityPub server which can be used to run bots.

It supports quotes, mentions, hashtags, and most features of the modern .

You can play around by uploading one PHP file and one .htaccess file to your website.

Get started at:

@skflyfish

The domain name would fall under U.S. jurisdiction, regardless of who owns it or where it’s hosted.

While domain takedowns are rare, the possibility exists — especially in today’s unstable political climate. For example, even close allies like Canada have experienced tension with the U.S. Donald Trump once attempted to pressure Microsoft into discontinuing services to Denmark, raising the question: what even counts as "normal" anymore?

That said — and as I’ve mentioned in previous discussions here on the Fediverse — Mastodon.social also relies on several U.S.-based servers (see URL below). So not only is their domain name potentially at risk, but so is the data hosted on those servers.

Social media should be about meaningful connections, authenticity and less exploitation of the people and their personal #data.

In fact, they should be social platforms that put people first and make #people to be members of social platforms and communities, not simply users that are used by big #tech companies to make money.

#Fediverse, especially with the #ActivityPub protocol, makes it possible and allows people to experience better digital life. #socialmedia #privacy #bigtech
