#fediHelp #fediVerse #activityPub

Just stumbled over #bridgyfed visited:
github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed

.. and stumbled over this detail of the instructions:
> First, fork and clone this repo. Then, install the #GoogleCloudSDK ..

So, to what extend does #backendAccess, #backDoors, and security risk including scrapping by AI could this involve by whom?

Options to block that "fediService" and all related servers?
* as a user
* for an entire instance

@linuxfoundation

Why do you have facebook on here, rather than Mastodon?

You took the step to create a mastodon account, now the next step is to actually advertise that you're on Mastodon.

Realistically, how many linux developers use facebook?

Decentralized, open networks should be promoted by #FOSS foundations.

Why pander to the very systems you aim to reject?

The #Fediverse and #Activitypub are important pieces of technology, but are useless if nobody knows they exist, or WHY they were created in the first place.

With all the drama surrounding Bluesky moderation atm, I do want to specifically shoutout Blacksky for the effort they do in properly decentralising ATProto, even down to allowing other platforms to use their relay (I believe Wafrn does it). That sort of collaboration is why I've got hope for ATProto right now.

on Mastodon/fediverse, it really feels like progress to make it palatable for regular users has stagnated, while anything that would make progress gets the developers shouted at by people who despite cheerleading ActivityPub don't even know how it works. (otherwise the "fediscovery" proposal from Mastodon wouldn't have gotten shouted at by a privacy extremist weirdo).

There is some effort, I heard AP is looking at nomadic identity similar to AT, but I don't know if it'll be too late.

For #ONI the no fuss single user #ActivityPub service, I wanted to migrate from my custom hodge-podge of JavaScript logic for building CSS themes from images, to something a little more credentialed and battle tested.

Then I looked over what the Material library would generate and I begun to reconsider.

Material is so unsipired, it defaults to such samey, generic norm-core color palettes that it's difficult to see any changes even between vastly different images.

I think I'll just improve my own algorithm because, frankly, I want more GeoCities and less Enterprise.

I never took #ruby or #dhh seriously, yet I have succeeded in life handily.

(actually I learned enough ruby that I can put debug statements in Mastodon which is, for better of worse, how I learned #activitypub)

Do you know any app or #Android to block spam calls and messages through an #opensource and #decentralized network? It could be something like #mastodon and #fediverse which we have.

For instance, I block a number and report as spam. Anyone who wishes to, can follow me and block numbers which I block. So if a number calls me or messages me to spam, once I block them, they cannot call the ones who follow me.

Also I follow other people. I think this can be made on the top of #activitypub or #mastodon.
