There are people adding personalization to activvitypub. I'm personally against this with all my might, even if it might be optional in the beginning (things never stay optional in software). Culture is today fragmented because of personalization ("the algorithm"). At the Fediverse we should not be culturally fragmented, we should instead enjoy it collectively. Only then it gets meaning.

@wjmaggos I would like to use my blog author's account as main fediverse interaction place, but I fear we aren't there yet. The "Enable Mastodon apps" plugin to allow you to write from a Mastodon client, has a bug (issue 273 on github) -> enable mastodon apps.
From your blog, then, you should go to a fediverse post of interest, and then post a content-type with bookmarklet or with the reply block. #WordPress #ActivityPub

#FediAlgo (the customizable timeline algorithm / filtering system for your Mastodon feed) v1.2.2 is deployed now. Has a switch that makes sure any #hashtags / users / etc. that you follow are displayed as filter options even if they don't meet the minimum number of recent toots threshold.

I need somebody smarter than me to explain this.
afaict #ATproto is built on this central database thingy "didplc" that I know they plan to outsource to a non profit. better but still a problem imo cause non profits can be evil (or just plain dumb) too.
so how does #ActivityPub avoid a centralization problem like this and what are the tradeoffs in the different models?

gonna have a hot take but decentralisation needs to take much less of a focus in favour of UX if fedi is to actually thrive. I think fedi making decentralisation the main thing while skimping on good UX has hurt it and is part of why it's developed a toxic white angry nerd perception to outsiders (many such cases in FOSS lol, fedi toxicity mainly comes from FOSS hobbyist extremists)
