Content warning:Chinese social media reactions about Iran

I love how posts on Iran on Chinese social media are either straight up facts or posts that remind us of the humanity on the ground. I have not seen any fear mongering or gloating like you see on English social media. There is, to my surprise, Israeli propaganda straight from the Israeli embassy in China. But the people in the comments are literally telling them to scram and bugger off.
On the whole it's been easier to get the news and updates about the conflict on Weibo. (It's feed us clean with a list of updates, and I don't have to wade through racist, bigoted, hate-filled to get any updates.)

Xiaohongshu is not as political, and it's filled with beautiful videos about Chinese people who had visited Iran. All the posts and the comments have a common theme, "We wish for a peaceful Iran and for no more wars".

Why is English social media so violent, racist and bigoted? I don't know.

A part of me believes that it's due to strict moderation on Chinese social media. They are not nirvana, mind you, but people are not allowed to incite violence or hatred there.

Also, by nature, Chinese people prefer harmony over conflict, so they are naturally averse to wars.

Ps I can believe the US bombed a playground. Do they hate children that much?

Ps: Post was translated to English by Google Translate.

Full statement by Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid are in this video, translation from Google Gemini:

""Today, we are issuing a Ministerial Regulation as a derivative of the 'PP Tunas' (Government Regulation). Through this regulation, the government is suspending access for children under 16 years old to high-risk digital platforms, including social media and networking services.

This means Indonesia is the first non-Western country to implement age-appropriate access suspension for children in the digital space. The basis is clear: our children face increasingly real threats, ranging from exposure to pornography, cyberbullying, online scams, and most importantly, addiction.

The government is here so that parents no longer have to fight the 'algorithm giants' alone. The implementation phase begins on March 28, 2026. Accounts for children under 16 on high-risk platforms will start to be deactivated, beginning with YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Bigo Live, and Roblox.

This process will be carried out gradually until all platforms fulfill their compliance obligations. We realize that the implementation of this regulation may cause discomfort at first; children might complain, and parents might be confused in dealing with those complaints.

However, we believe this is the best step the government must take amidst a digital emergency. We are taking this step to reclaim the sovereignty of our children's future. We want technology to humanize humans, not to sacrifice the childhood of our children."

So, Indonesia will starting to restrict social media access on "high risk platforms" for children under 16. The implementation will be started March 28th 2026.

The reason for this as stated by the Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid are to help to protect the children from pornography, cyberbullying, online scam, and addiction.

The list of "high risk" social media are as follows:
- YouTube
- Tiktok
- Facebook
- Instagram
- Threads
- X
- Bigo Live
- Roblox

The reaction of people from Indonesia are mixed. There are who agreed with this rule, but there are also people who were concerned about digital privacy.
