People are introduced to the real world through education: schools and adults. But there's no education about the online world, no textbooks. There's no attitude that one has to choose platforms the same way they choose neighborhoods or schools. The platforms will influence their whole lives through policies, values, and styles of communication, yet the choice doesn't feel monumental at all. Unless you've learned from experience how monumental this choice is.
