I did get the USB Flash drive to boot DietPi on the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B.
I had some issues at first, but then it stuck.
Now I have a big drive to play with. I'm going to look into getting a second USB drive that I can use for the DietPi backup utility.

The Raspberry Pi 5 supports PCIe 2.0 or PCIe 3.0 SSDs (although you need to hook an adapter board up to an FPC connector). Handy hint that I just figured out regarding #raspberrypi - if you installed it ages ago with raspbian and then attach a POE+ hat, but the fan on the hat doesn't spin up, eventually leading to overheating and shutdown, the easiest way is to just reinstall "Raspberry Pi OS", which is based on Debian anyway. This comes with the drivers needed to control the fan.
Ran the ansible playbook against it, and everything was back the way it should be, except it's running 20° cooler.
The fan, however, is not quiet. if it gets annoying I might have to tune the parameters for it somewhat.

I'm trying to get myself to more consistently do nerdy tech tinker things. I've decided each week I'm going to do what I'm calling a #DataBite and choose a little mini project from a backlog of tech things I want to do.
A fair bit of them will be #MusicBrainz API stuff. I also hope to play with my #RaspberryPi a bit more and maybe the Mastodon and Telegram APIs too!
