Decided to give #FreeBSD a try, after having #NetBSD as a daily driver in my old (and defunct) #netbook

The onboarding experience is certainly far from what you get in modern #Linux and just a tad above what I got with the minimalist install for NetBSD.

Pictured is my #RaspberryPi 4 encased in a #JoyPi Note 1.

I had to borrow the ethernet cable from the Vodafone STB, so I can install the required stuff for Wifi (sure, I could do it by hand, but meh).

Might do some #Mesa3D hacking on that :)

@aslankemalaslan A weird thing with #RaspberryPi and #RaspberryPiOS for me has been that BPF support isn't enabled. I think this goes against what Debian by default does but it is the #Linux kernel default as BPF builds need some extra tools. I see open issues on this for Raspberry Pi OS but I haven't tested myself recently:

A lack of BPF support breaks a lot of Linux perf profiling features - among many other tools.

Want to get ArchLinux running on your shiny new clicky Raspberry Pi 500+ with KDE Plasma and BTRFS subvolumes instead of ext4?

Turns out, it's not very difficult.

Are the Russians using #RaspberryPI (or just #ARM) chips in their drones? Can't think of that many British made microprocessors in recent times (alas, it doesn't surprise me that UK companies are likely selling them to Russia if it makes them a profit)

NervesMeetup (@NervesMeetup@mastodon.social)

The next Nerves meetup is Wednesday, October 29! Vittoria will showcase the capability of running ML inference pipelines on a Raspberry Pi 5 with the Hailo HAT using Nerves. You'll learn about writing pre or post-processing code with Nx, on low-cost hardware, without sending data over the internet.

RSVP here: meetup.com/nerves/events/30530
