Hey, #lazyweb, what does it mean if I can VNC into my #raspberrypi from my laptop but not from my desktop (tried three viewers)? I've triple-checked the address and the port.
Edit: the laptop and desktop are both running Debian Trixie, fully updated, and the Pi is running RPOs, also fully updated.

For normal compute usage, a mini x86 pc is probably "better". But a #PI is more fun ;-) And also useful if you play with ARM64.
The PI5 support is not great; there is also no official #Debian image, for example. Still is hoping that #raspberrypi will work on better support.
Currently I'm using #ubuntu with #freebsd virtual machines on my #pi5

Building a #Shiny app with #RStats to track real-time train arrivals at my local station was satisfying and did the job I wanted.
But getting a small touchscreen to have it all run locally on an unused #RaspberryPi makes it *unspeakably* enjoyable.

- Granted I'm shure the connector is just a 40-pin shortened variant of like a 50-pin connector for like telephone switching backplanes to facilitate RJ-21 50p50c / 25-line connects or something.
Similarly Molex- (Power connector for 5,25" ODD with IDE) & Berg (3,5" FDD power connector) predate said drives.
- The main reason #RaspberryPi used the same pitch 26- then 40-pin connectortion pitch is due to the abundance of cheap connectors, cable and the fact that 0,1mm pitch & the pins used are a breaboard-compatible standard.
So yeah, pretty shure the 40-pin IDE cable was inspired by the 50-pin SCSI and 8" FDD drives that predate the IBM PC & ATA interface.
- That's just the nature of tech…
