I keep telling myself I need to spend more time on #Peertube; I want to encourage the platform, even if watching others' videos is the way for me to do it. But I'll spend an evening looking through videos, then just sort of forget for a month...

I should like, put a sticky note on the wall above my computer to remind myself to check new videos every day or two.

In 2025, I have dumped Soundcloud for adopting AI, and YouTube for messing up my hard work on at least 2 videos.

I like how the videos look on PeerTube. Now, if I can figure out how to get it to stop trying to make closed caption text. It seems to ignore the ones with embedded lyrics, but the last one, which has none, didn't go so well, lol. It just wakes up halfway through to put some scrambled lyrics on the screen. Less than ideal.

Let me know if anyone has trouble streaming from my PeerTube site. I've upgraded to a 2 Gb line, so I think, for my typical traffic, it should be fine. It's also hosting this Mastodon instance.

I've removed 2 videos from YouTube, the most recent ones. I've also deleted the YouTube references from all of my pinned toots.

I'm going to inspect every remaining video over the next few days.

Caught In Her Love is going to stay there for now, due to copyright reasons. I put it on an album. The video is new, and has remixed audio, but that makes no difference. I have to let some folks know that my PeerTube site is really me before I can put those there, or I will get take-down notices from myself.

I'll leave Rod and the Tonemasters on YouTube. Rod would probably prefer I leave them alone.

Videos where it's just a still image don't need to be moved, but I may remix some of them and move them anyway. If you release an album, and the label posts it to your YouTube channel, it's a still image, so those are okay.

I don't know what YouTube is doing to my videos, but the mess it made of the last 2 really ticked me off.

I kind of wish #PeerTube had a feature to DM / message accounts, at least from the moderation dashboard. You can kind of do this with local reports, but it’s limited.

It’d just be nice if there was a super easy way to tell someone to put content warnings on a gory horror video, for example.

I'm currently moving videos from my two old #YouTube channels over manually. Even though PeerTube has a channel synchronization function, #Google has decided to block @trom from using it. I thought this was just an email issue before, but I was wrong. I decided to stick with this instance because if they got blocked by Google, they must be doing something right. Also, videos.trom.tf has the #TLD of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.tf), which seems neat.
