After another restless sleepless night of pain, the old man drags his cold stiff lifeless body out of a sunken bed of jagged thorny rocky shards of glass, without even a breath in his chest unable to yet see, as the classical music plays he drags himself off to prepare his coffee, as his hand tremble in pain he pours in the water and measures the scoops of grind, fumbling he manages to plug in the percolator, as the coffee begins to perc he shuffles off to the toilet, where his bowels roar out in hungerous pain, in the mirror a man blankly stares off into the abyss, his hair and beard greasy and disheveled, the old man disrobes his undergarment, and slips into the shower, the hot water offers no relief as he struggles to brush his teeth and wash his hair and beard, it becomes a battle to hold the soap as he washes his body, exhausted he shuts off the water and dries himself off, exting the shower carefully as to not fall again, he begins the arduous task of brushing out his hair and beard, then hse shuffles back to his bed, where he struggles to pull on a clean union undergarment, his socks and pants, he pours a cup of coffee and gently packs his pipe with scraps of tobacco, he pulls on his coat and slips out the door, the morning is cold the sun struggles to rise, as the world begins to wake, not one soul takes notice of the enduring hell the old man must face each day;
