I keep coming back to Linux Mint because it just works without me thinking about it too much. What’s your go-to Linux distro right now, and why?

@axbom

I have high trust in the #OpenSource community, so much good is brewing there. Things that are maturing and becoming all the more useful in everyday life for everyone. Boosted by that here in Europe funding is improving, as well as other resources needed - including from EU and a growing number of European countries.

Though much of this is going on somewhat invisible from the public arena and traditional media, where focus is mainly on all the crap commercial and other bad actors do.

Given how widely recommended Optic was as an #OpenAPI tool, I'm surprised I haven't seen more discussion about #Atlassian embrace & extinguishing it - acquired April 2024, officially abandoned January 2026

Is this a sign of how thin the #OpenSource community is stretched, that nobody in the community has the resources for a fork or replacement?

#Mozilla launches #Thunderbolt #AI client with focus on self-hosted infrastructure
Thunderbolt is built on top of #Haystack, an existing #opensource AI framework that lets users build custom, modular AI pipelines from user-chosen components. Thunderbolt acts as what Mozilla calls a “#sovereignAI client” on top of that infrastructure. Promises to let users easily plug into any ACP-compatible agent or OpenAI-compatible API (Claude, Codex, OpenClaw, DeepSeek, and OpenCode).

Learn Linux TV walks through building a custom Linux MOTD system with Bash, systemd services, and timers.

It is a solid hands-on example of using systemd timers instead of cron, writing scripts defensively, and improving server visibility right at login.

The Philosophy behind Mend

started as a joke about the Arch community, but it turned into my daily driver.
It’s about bridging the gap between a broken terminal and the manual.
Automation that helps you learn rather than just hiding the problem.
