🪆 Linux Begins Removing Support For Russia's Baikal CPUs

「 Back in 2024, various kernel maintainers were removed due to their association to Russia on grounds of compliance requirements. That included some of the Russian Linux developers working on the Baikal CPU support.

But due to sanctions they weren't able to get their chips manufactured by TSMC and ultimately Baikal Electronics entered bankruptcy 」

Ubuntu 26.04 long-term release hit Release Candidate Friday carrying the known Linux 7.0 scheduler regression. On AWS Graviton4 the PostgreSQL throughput drop is logged in the upstream tracker, fix stalled. Ubuntu froze the kernel anyway. macOS doesn’t really delete apps. It removes the app bundle, sure, but everything else stays behind. Preferences, caches, random support files buried in Library folders.

PureMac goes after that leftover mess. Pick an app and it pulls up everything linked to it. It digs through metadata, bundle IDs, and other hints to figure out what belongs where. You get a list, you decide what goes.
