i made a space on matrix for qubes os users! i was kinda tired of having a single room that wouldn't show up in my element sidebar
it has a subspace with external rooms as well like the official qubes-public room, the xen rooms, whonix, etc
there are other rooms for salt, off topic, news, etc too

So Element just released Element Web v1.12.0 where they fucked up the room list.
Favourites/people/rooms separation is gone, now you have filters on top.
Thanks for nothing. Waiting for the colleagues' DMs tomorrow morning who got that change pushed on their desktops rightfully complaining.

I don't pick fights between open protocols. I do have my preferences, but it's ridiculous to war between open factions when the dragon we're all trying to slay is proprietary, centralized, extractive, monopolistic tech.
So I will not name names.
But I do find it alarming when someone working on an open protocol says they don't know what Trust & Safety is.
And I'm really proud of the investment and progress we're making in T&S at @matrix.

I recognise the work that has been put into the new Element UI update, but for the love of everything is it cluttered, somehow less informative than the previous UI, and honestly almost unusable. I can't wait for the Cinny Voice Call PR to get merged so that I can ditch Element forever.

sorry fediverse aber das kenn ich besser von euch. warum hat denn kein mensch davor gewarnt, #element (#matrix client) nicht azu aktualisieren, wenn eins das weiterhin halbwegs sinnvoll mit mehr als einem raum nutzen will. wtf warum sind jetzt gespräche mit einzelpersonen nicht mehr von räumen mit mehreren trennbar und warum werden meine fucking favoriten nicht mehr gesondert angezeigt?

@mcnesium @daniel I would not underestimate the value of having a go-to home server free of charge for people new to #matrix. In the end, it is the members of the foundation to decide whether they agree with the use of the budget they contribute. Are you also a member?
