Just managed to setup a full blown Element Synapse server with Jitsi integration for voice and video calls.
Tried Dendrite and Conduit before but it's amazing what the full thing can do. Will start to push it to my inner circle and who ever will understand what decentralization really mean.
It's amazing what can be done with Open Source software.

The relationship between users and #SocialMedia platforms sucking the life out of you is kind of like the #Matrix. They provide some twisted view of the world, that locks you in. This world matches your beliefs and desires, while they can enrich themselves on your data.
Their business model is to make you believe they are all you need. serving you #FakeNews and artificial content generated from stolen content.

Ich sehe schon, Matrix ist vllt. doch keine Alternative zu Signal...
Jedenfalls nicht, wenn man einfach sicher verschlüsselt kommunizieren möchte und dabei nicht auf einer einsamen Insel sitzen will.

Es gibt keine unüberwindbaren Hürden ein Konto bei matrix.org anzulegen.
Mehr kann ich dazu nicht sagen.

@pixelschubsi Ich vermute, auch #Threema wäre behördlichen Zugriffsanfragen ähnlich ausgesetzt wie #Signal. Zudem ist der Threema Server nicht komplett quelloffen, man weiß also nicht, welche Leichen im Keller liegen.
#XMPP und #Matrix müssen vermutlich noch mehr Metadaten noch länger speichern, damit Föderation funktioniert, und man muss vielen Serverbetreibern vertrauen.
Signal bietet, meiner Meinung nach, bei niedriger Einstiegshürde die beste Sicherheit und ist damit der beste Kompromiss.
