Just saw a person made a comment about #Mastodon / #fediverse that unorganized and scattered — almost tribal like — all hidden and hard to find
I didn’t feel like getting into an online conversation with a stranger. I got news for you that particular online person. The world is an accumulation of tribes now called countries. I would rather have multiple disorganized tribes called countries than the entire world with just one country — for the good and the bad reasons.
Not to mention things aren’t working out so well with only handful of tech companies controlling almost all aspects of our lives

What skills would I need to learn to be able to set up my own Mastodon instance?
And what skills would I need to learn in order to be able to create a new social media service on the Fediverse?
If anyone has any suggestions on where I could learn those skills, too, I'd really appreciate it.
Partly this is related to trying to create some sort of free Fedidate dating service. Or not a service, exactly. Just something that people can use to find each other. For dating, friendship, mutual aid, general strike coordination, and revolutionary activities.
I think there's a real need for something like that. And who knows? There aren't any decent dating services out there anymore; Match has bought them all and ruined them all. A good free dating application on Mastodon might actually help bring in more users to the Fediverse as a whole!

taibai is a Fediverse CLI tool built on longwei. The goal is a full-featured terminal client for Mastodon-compatible instances: post, read, and manage your account without leaving the shell.
What's new in 0.5.0
- taibai follow / unfollow — follow or unfollow any account (handle or numeric ID)
- taibai mute / unmute — mute with optional --duration and --no-notifications flags
- taibai block / unblock — block or unblock an account
- taibai profile ACCOUNT — view a remote account's profile panel + recent posts
- taibai search QUERY — search statuses, accounts, and hashtags
- --type statuses|accounts|hashtags|all (default: all)
- --resolve for remote WebFinger lookup
- --limit N to control result count per type
All new commands support --json for piping into jq or other tools.
