Mastodon includes an optional feature which lets you automatically delete your posts after a certain amount of time. There's a guide to using this feature including lots of questions answered at:

It's off by default, it only deletes stuff if you switch it on. You can also set it to keep certain posts, more info in the guide.
I've tried to answer questions about this feature in the guide, but let me know if I've missed anything.

I recently migrate from metalhead.club to here (linernotes.club). I imported my followers and followed contacts. However, there are a lot of contacts whose toots don't appear on my timeline (the TL of contacts I follow). Why does it happen? I don't fully understand Fediverse yet : :blobsad:
Can anybody explain it to me?

Hab mich mit diesem norden.social-Account bei #Pixeldroid eingeloggt. Im öffentlichen Feed sehe ich Bilder aber auch eine ganze Menge reine Text-Posts... Das ist tatsächlich nicht ganz wie erwartet 🤔
Ich will keinen weiteren Account auf einer Pixelfed #Instanz aufmachen. Soweit ich den #Fedi Gedanken verstehe, sollte das doch iwie übergreifend funktionieren?

Saw an announcement that #SDF, the instance I'm on, is going to be migrating to the new Mastodon version on new hardware with a new database.
I'm glad to hear that! I was getting rather nervous about my instance still running #Mastodon 4.1 and frequently getting bogged down.
A lot can go wrong in a big migration like that, though! So I wish @SDF admins the best of luck. 🤞 (And I'd better grab backups of my data on here, just in case.)

One of the reasons usernames are permanent is because of federation with other #Mastodon servers. Your username to them is @ username @ privacysafe.social
It is hypothetically possible to do what you suggest but it would require tweaks we don't do, for privacy + legal + logistics reasons, with the server.

Moje instance #Mastodon na mém #punkserver běží dnes měsíc. Zatím to vypadá, že se ani zdaleka neblížím limitům HW, který jsem našel v hromadě pod stolem 😀 Dnes jsem s i tedy zvedl limit Media cache na 60 dní, user archive na 365 dní a remote content taky 365 dní, uvidíme jak se to dál bude vyvíjet. #selfhost
