Both good and bad, but I feel that this is the beginning of the end for Mastodon in both the UK and EU regions where age verification is either already the requirement, or soon to be required. Current implementation of letting server admins to decide whether they follow the laws (or not) can be rather bad for the admins themselves, as it opens individual admins to the legal enforcement issues.

I recently made the decision to stop using Mastodon through the web interface, and instead use a TUI (at least when on my computer).
This does change the experience somewhat, but it's also less obtrusive than I had feared, especially with Kitty image support. And on top of that, I no longer have to wait for Firefox to start up and the web interface to load whenever I want to randomly check Mastodon.
With the exception of desktop Signal and various websites that I might look at briefly and then close, Mastodon was the last thing that I regularly opened a traditional browser window for. I'm starting to feel like I've crossed a threshold here, in some sense at least.
