@koteisaev This is something we are very aware of and something we'd like to improve. The current #UX is a bit confusing as your DMs show up in the main feed! That's counter intuitive.
However, #mastodon isn't #signal either, it was never meant to be an encrypted messaging platform as we'll never have that. It's not it's major focus.
But that being said, what we offer could be SO much better presented!

Updated the instance's postgres backend to v18. Let's see how this async read will affect the performance.
BTW, even though it's running dockerized, this was the rockiest postgres upgrade I've ever did. I hope I won't have to do like this again in the future.

Today accidentally I knew about some UX "issue" of Mastodon and many its forks that could stop some large groups of people from joining _and staying_ at Fediverse in general & Mastodon in particular.
As i see, these people complained (in a very funny way for me) that there was no "private messages" similar to what UX Facebook or X offers for "private messages" with rendering the private mentions like a one-to-one chat, not as something you dig across notifications river.
