possibility of editing the personal note when muting or blocking an account (instead of having to do it in a separate action)
@MamaLake @diazona @corbden Maybe two viewing times could work, 12h apart, so every timezone has a chance to watch it at some convenient time.
As for time-shifted viewing and tooting, interesting problem. A participant wants to watch and comment in their own time and read and reply to posts that happened at this point in the movie.
We‘d need a timestamp relative to the movie for each toot. Some agreed-upon phrase or hashtag people say when they press play, like a movie clapper 🎬 #christmaswatchparty_start for example. Bonus feature: tags for pausing and resuming a movie. That way people are not bound to any fixed start time.
That’s a tad complicated to use though. Maybe a fixed viewing time, like 6pm local time. And everyone posts their timezone in their profile, in some agreed-upon format, from which we can calculate the offset.
To then see the movie toots synchronized with the movie and your timezone, you’d need a special client, ideally with the ability to reply to toots and post under your account. So a full new client, not just a timeline player like the replay site.
Then the first people watching the movie make the initial posts. And the later you watch, the more posts you see and can favorite/boost/reply to.
That could be a generic „time sync mode“ feature of a #mastodon client, for any synced event. Everyone participating has their timezone in their profile and marks every post with #_timesync whenever the mode is active (the client sets it automatically).
Not really doable in a week :) But maybe something like this exists already?
Writing on mastodon and interacting with english-speaking users over the past few months has greatly helped my written English. While earlier, I used to be shy and unsure about the use of overly simple sentence structures or spaces, or even paragraph changes, I feel more at ease now...as I continue to improve how I structure my thoughts.
The biggest advantage is the ability to put thoughts in writing, summarizing them to fit the word limit or maybe even remove repeating sentences altogether. I'm still a student, and will probably be forever and it's always gonna be this fun. Technology has given me a way to communicate with like-minded individuals, since at the core, we all know the same terminologies and ideas.
