If you're on a Mastodon server that needs to have the highest level of user safety, you might want to talk to your admin about whether they should activate "limited federation mode".
This mode prioritises safety over connectivity, and means a server manually chooses which servers it allows federation with, while blocking all the rest by default. More info at:

La Contre-Voie a pour objectif de sensibiliser des publics non-initiés à l’éthique dans le numérique, en complémentarité avec son activité d’hébergement de services libres et alternatifs.
Et pourtant, tout en critiquant les géants du numérique, l’association communique désormais sur ces mêmes réseaux propriétaires qu’elle combat. D’où vient cette posture ?
S’agit-il d’une nécessité pour les structures libristes qui s’adressent à des publics non-initiés ? Est-ce un moyen efficace d’atteindre ce public, ou une perte de temps ?
Après sept ans de communication quasi-exclusive sur Mastodon, La Contre-Voie ouvre des comptes sur les plateformes et réseaux propriétaires, avec pour ambition d’atteindre d’autres publics que le milieu libriste.
Cette conférence fera le bilan de ce changement dans sa stratégie de communication, en revenant sur une campagne portée sur les nouveaux services de l’association réalisée en juin 2025 sur 7 réseaux sociaux différents.

@lxsameer A lot of #linux users seem to think #corporations are all evil, at least here on #Mastodon.
While at the same time using hardware made by corporations, free software and a kernel in part funded by corporations... Tbh it feels like people with too much free time and the need to rationalize their choices to me but to each their own.

I’m having a lot of trouble posting pictures on Mastodon. I’m using the Metatext app, 1.7.1 (2).
It allows me to find pictures both in my pictures folder and files folder on my iPhone 11, but when I select then try to upload, I get:
“The operation couldn’t be completed. (ServiceLayer.- MediaProcessingError error 0.)
OK”
Once in a while it works, but usually it fails and I can’t fathom a reason for why it’s failing.
