I was browsing the #Mastodon server list and discovered some interesting things.
First of all, #Forkiverse is the seventh instance with the most active users on the list! Wow!
Another thing that impressed me and that I didn't know is that there's another instance based on a podcast/YouTube channel. It's called #TheDen and it's the ninth instance with the most active users. I think that's phenomenal. Brand and community managers need to pay attention to this.
By creating an instance for your product - whether it's a podcast or software, like the brilliant #Vivaldi browser, which I use and which has an instance - the tenth busiest - that I'm part of, a brand can bring its audience together to talk directly with them while everyone enjoys a social environment without algorithmic manipulation and interference from someone who will exploit their data to mediate targeted advertising.
It's possible to create a real community of interested people to inform and discuss your brand. Anyway. I think that's awesome.

@tink @TetraLogical @community #A11ysocial #mastodon instance is off-line for about five days now and it's worrying that there are #accessibility personalities that are locked out from their professional accounts.
There should be ways for them to export their data and start a new instance. this is just my opinion ofc, when the community admins itself are not active and not updating the masto for years, it's not worth a shot contacting them anymore. it's already not reliable. #MastoAdmin

Plataformas como Facebook, X (antes Twitter) o Instagram utilizan algoritmos que explotan el sistema de recompensa del cerebro. Cada "like", notificación o comentario actúa como un estímulo que libera dopamina, generando una necesidad de repetición que puede derivar en conductas adictivas, de hecho según estudios esta adicción puede ser tan nefasta o perniciosa como la de la cocaína y otras drogas.
Este mecanismo se refuerza mediante el "scroll infinito", una técnica de diseño que elimina los puntos de parada naturales del consumo de información.
Los algoritmos de estas redes no son neutrales; están programados para priorizar el contenido que genera mayor interacción, lo cual frecuentemente deriva en la exposición a conflictos, polarización y choque de ideales, ya que la indignación es uno de los motores de enganche más efectivos. Afortunadamente frente a este modelo nocivo de atención, el Fediverso y redes como Mastodon operan bajo una arquitectura distinta: al ser abiertas y federadas, carecen de algoritmos de manipulación, devolviendo al usuario el control sobre su propia cronología, salud digital y mental.
