Funny this comes up now because for a long time I thought it'd be neat to have quotes on #Mastodon as we had them on Twitter now #X but now that they're here I find that more times than not it detracts from my reading experience. At least as they're presented most of the time when I encounter them.

oh, this is interesting. #Loops only handles up to 40mb. i was informed it could take up to 80, & it will compress it. but when i uploaded a 78mb file, then this 42mb file, they both failed as too big. but it looks like this uploaded to #Mastodon just fine💙

As a Rails dev I started with #Mastodon (I‘m used to run Rails apps). It‘s great, but too much for my needs.
Now I have a #GotoSocial and a #snac2. I like them both, but GTS having a global timeline to read the federated stuff I feed via API into the instance with some scripts made it the primary instance for now.

I was browsing the #Mastodon server list and discovered some interesting things.
First of all, #Forkiverse is the seventh instance with the most active users on the list! Wow!
Another thing that impressed me and that I didn't know is that there's another instance based on a podcast/YouTube channel. It's called #TheDen and it's the ninth instance with the most active users. I think that's phenomenal. Brand and community managers need to pay attention to this.
By creating an instance for your product - whether it's a podcast or software, like the brilliant #Vivaldi browser, which I use and which has an instance - the tenth busiest - that I'm part of, a brand can bring its audience together to talk directly with them while everyone enjoys a social environment without algorithmic manipulation and interference from someone who will exploit their data to mediate targeted advertising.
It's possible to create a real community of interested people to inform and discuss your brand. Anyway. I think that's awesome.

@tink @TetraLogical @community #A11ysocial #mastodon instance is off-line for about five days now and it's worrying that there are #accessibility personalities that are locked out from their professional accounts.
There should be ways for them to export their data and start a new instance. this is just my opinion ofc, when the community admins itself are not active and not updating the masto for years, it's not worth a shot contacting them anymore. it's already not reliable. #MastoAdmin
