instagram Timeline - FediScanner

Most of the content on #UpScrolled, #Instagram and #TIkTok doesn't appeal to me. A lot of it is political but with a kind of humour to it. It's like a sort of atrocity entertainment.

I don't think there's anything wrong with what people are doing, it's just not something that appeals to me.

One video I was looking at was a kind of comedy/concept piece set in the fictional Museum of Silence. And it was like something deep and meaningful like it was an art performance or a thought-provoking play.

And then there's a tonne of unverified claims in the infographics people share.

I just feel like, while I'm looking at this I could be reading an article about real world events which would be far more valuable to me.

As I said, I don't think any of it is necessarily wrong, I just think there is more value in good journalism and some social media sites promote entertainment over journalism.
