I figured why my Workers weren't going to the right place!
I updated their TargetPosition, but never updated the NavAgent to use that position!
D'oh!
I'm in no mood to be continuing it tonight, but at least I found out what the problem was!

Still looks like ass, but now there is a throughline where you can buy, repair, work, train, and so on - and the bots show up in the adventure modes.

The ASSETS don't exist yet. Just placeholder mockups. Downside of only having a few hours a week to work on the game.

Trying to implement some kind of Worker State Machine, but not happy.
citizen has Node of WSM, with children: Worker_States
Each State then supposedly directs the Citizen.
It will have to call on citizen.workplace for a lot of info.

I can't see how to dynamically alter the State Machine, so would have to make a monolithic "if Manufacturer...", "if citizen.workplace.has(recipe)..." etc
ugh

any tips gratefully received

finally added some colors and particles.
and also improved the scramble logic. it can now go as fast as possible but i kinda got attached to the progress bar so i added a very tiny wait time after each random move. this is with 1k random moves which should be more than enough

Another day's work on my casual puzzle game and groups can be clicked to remove them, and the grid updates vertically and horizontally.

Next on the docket is animating the tokens between grid updates.

Tip of the day: loading and saving of custom resources.

When using ResourceLoader and ResourceSaver in for custom Resources make sure that every variable that you want to load or save has a export annotation like "@export_storage, @export".

Otherwise they will be ignored during serialization and deserialization.
