Finally managed to find a plugin for FSM that works and that I can both understand and use.

Yay!

(please don't make fun of me, I'm an extreme beginner)

Would you 🫵 😎 like to contribute to an open source project related to #videogames and #Godot ?

I opened an Issue on a project that should be really really simple to add, just to encourage a newcomer to contribute to #foss projects!

If you've never contributed to an open source project, this could be an easy introduction. If anyone wants to do it, I can help you with the process!

More progress on the golf-related #Godot project. This is rendered entirely in 2D so as to avoid learning 3D and I am now having to resist the obvious urge to make it full 3D or brute force more pseudo-3D features in 2D.

It was never supposed to be 3D, it was supposed to just render a given shot at a time (like the snapping to different zooms at the start of the video). The fact that I *can^ pan the camera around in real time is inviting scope creep.

Really happy how this portion of my casual game project is coming along! I've implemented track segments that can be combined into complete tracks, and cars that can follow them.

There's currently jank due to discontinuities in the track and no interpolation between rotation angles for the cars, but for being the more vector math heavy part of the project it's looking good enough for now.

Now to combine the grid and the track!

Btw the library I am using for doing TDD #gamedev with #godot and C# is this: github.com/chickensoft-games/G

For assertions I use Shouldly.

In my experience, it can be really difficult to be disciplined about TDD while learning a new framework. There are a lot of decisions you have to make about what to abstract away and how, that you can't know the tradeoffs of them until you know the framework better. So as I dug into #Godot as a newbie, I wasn't worrying about writing tests. I just wanted to explore the framework and get to know it.
