My :

"If that server goes down for an hour, then during that hour nobody can collaborate at all or save versioned changes to anything they’re working on."

— From "Pro Git", by Scott Chacon and Ben Straub.
(P.S. This is the EPUB version of a book, so you'll probably get another sentence)

I've learned and basics already, but I took a substantial break from practicing them.
So, I plan to continue and finally learn branching. Let's see how long it will take!

[Good night]

When you think you're clever running git clean but shit's blowing up because you needed to have run git clean -fdx.

Annoyed by having to retype your credentials everytime you push to a repo via https when ssh is not an option (e.g. sharelatex/overleaf)? `git config credentials.helpe cache --timeout=NUMBEROFSECONDS` is your friend (git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-Too) #git #sharelatex #gwdg #rse

The new `git repo structure` command in Git 2.52.0 is handy as a quick-n-dirty high level overview. Supports table and keyvalue formats (table is shown below).

Also nice to see that "main" will be the default in Git 3.0.0 when using `git init`.
