So, #computing and #programming are going the same way as amateur #electronics and #woodworking and #StarWars fandom and everything else: they're for the elite now. Only a few people get to play with the really quality stuff.
The rest of us get "generative #AI", the general-purpose goo-and-dribble machine that's supposed to have all the answers and be capable of universal creativity, because it's SUPERINTELLIGENT! Really! Any day now! Just...check your Singularity countdown clocks and all that, one day a miracle shall occur and #ChatGPT will stop being shite on that miraculous day.

Our house is in the middle of Sinterklaas poems and "surprises": presents disguised as something else. An annual opportunity to go wild with creativity.
A post in the Copilot community at work suggested using AI to help with the traditional poems, which immediately got two responses in verse rejecting the suggestion.
Even so, I figured I'd give it a try and asked ChatGPT for ideas. And it's terrible. I thought it was good with words, but it writes terrible broken sentences that still don't rhyme. No sense of meter, meaning or style.
I did end up using two of its sentences, and one of them is brilliant, but that's clearly an accident.
It's mostly good for rubber ducking. It's occasionally helpful, but most of it is crap. The conclusion is clear: you can't let these things write anything for you that you care about. They're good at soulless drivel. Although there are clearly people who like that.

How is it legal for the NY Times to get copies of the #ChatGPT chat logs? They really shouldn't get to see what people were chatting about - regardless of the lawsuit. That's like suing a hospital to get their records.
