Okay, this is a bit convoluted but tl:dr is the CEO of Bluesky is now deliberately trolling people who are concerned about trans rights.

"Waffles" refers to a conversation she had yesterday, I've attached the screenshot. It depicted Bluesky users as weirdos unreasonably criticising opponents, comparing them to pancake fans inexplicably attacking waffle fans.
When someone asked if she would ban an alleged transphobe, she replied "WAFFLES".

So, there's been some arcane #Bluesky drama today involving CEO Jay Graber getting frustrated with being called out for their moderation policies and her making some sort of cryptic Twitter era meme response that has people up in arms. Not going to link it. You can easily find it.
Don't really understand what is going on, but it all seems stupid and juvenile and not what we need right now when we are trying to build a serious counterweight to right wing media hegemony.

there really needs to be an option to hide posts that contain images without alt text on both #Bluesky and #Mastodon because boy am I getting sick of it
and it doesn't help that users who post older comic strips like Nancy and Peanuts are more likely to put descriptive alt text than today's modern OC/fan art/comic artists (specifically on Bluesky)

Mike Masnic has worked so hard to show ordinary people how impossible it is to run a giant social media platform, yet it doesn't appear to have occurred to him that perhaps we just shouldn't have for-profit venture capitalist-funded platforms with one billion users, even if a layer in the stack is decentralized.
Openness on the protocol layer with an infrastructure monopoly seems like a bad deal.
