PLEASEEEEEE alternative social media platforms...
Please allow users to go to a post by pasting a link in the search bar of the mobile apps.
It's make cross-accounts stuff MUCH easier.
Say, I found a cool artist on my NSFW account, but I wanna follow on my SFW. Currently, I need to past it in the browser and HOPE the app actually loads up the post when ya go to the link in the browser.
Fine
I expected as much
Still interesting to see it explicitly pop up in relation to #Bluesky, specifically, and the #ATProtocol, specifically

Yeah there was a series of three "Add patent pledge link to README (PR # 9118)" posts to the #Bluesky #Github (which I follow closely) with the top-level blanket statement of:
"We're adding this link to the recent patent pledge across all of our major open source repos."
and I just went huh...
Again, "Bluesky's Patent Non-Aggression Pledge" makes for interesting, if not completely enlightening reading
Here: https://bsky.social/about/blog/10-01-2025-patent-pledge
Putting "patent" and "non-aggression" together makes for interesting reading...
#bluesky my favourite hobby, watching my new employees learning the ropes

What it would seem to do is to --> start <-- entrenching future control over the #ATProtocol *within* the #Bluesky app
With the #IETF as underlying authority
So one entire protocol becomes the realm of one application
hmm...
The BlueSky Patent Non-Aggression Pledge is Good for The Social Web. #bluesky

This... seems very interesting
#Bluesky is "...standardizing parts of #ATProtocol in an effort to establish long-term governance for the protocol."
"to establish long-term governance for the protocol"
Here: https://docs.bsky.app/blog/taking-at-to-ietf
Also see at #Github:
"Add patent pledge link to README (# 4246)"
"Bluesky Social PBC has committed to a software patent non-aggression pledge. For details see [the original announcement] (https://bsky.social/about/blog/10-01-2025-patent-pledge)."
Here: https://github.com/bluesky-social/atproto/commit/d239f0bcf5e7ed391c8ced32e13aaa4c1324a757
All that said, not sure exactly what it *means* long-term, but it is... interesting
every time you hear people saying #Bluesky is decentralized, remember this image.
yes, you can host your own PDS. everything else depends on the BlueSky servers. it's a way different setup than what you get with Mastodon (which is actually decentralized)

Here's Jay, CEO of Bluesky, mocking somebody for wanting Jesse Singal, a transphobic grifter known for influencing anti-trans legislation with vapid TERF "journalism" and harassing trans people, removed from the platform.
Remind me why people still use this site?

just saw Jay Bluesky's WAFFLES thing… guess bad PR is something it has in common with Mastodon.
