Between rolling out the red carpet for JD Vance, going to bat for Jesse Singal and JK Rowling, and going dark in Mississippi to avoid running afoul of its age verification law, Bluesky seems to be bending over backward to avoid drawing the ire of Western conservatives.
Which is understandable, perhaps, but it also means that the overall thrust of the network will be toward right-wing values.

1. Folk I know from Twitter who would fit right in here are apparently very angry about it, but are still not here.
2. A lot of people talking about “investors” and “value” in a way that, thank fuck, no-one does about this ramshackle garbage raft.

#Bluesky is a site explicitly founded by #cryptocurrency libertarians with the idea that it would be a #decentralized platform where users would be free to choose the #opensource moderation and algorithmic feed tools they wanted, and by accident acquired a power userbase that hates all of those things.
