Bluesky has issued a very short update (below) reiterating that the cause was "ongoing Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks". No further technical details or information on the attacker. They promise more information by the "end of day."

"Mashable could not access the site properly".... That's it. #Bluesky is a site.... one site. If that one site goes down, most communication between Bluesky users is cut.
This is different from the #ActivityPub protocol, which #Mastodon and other services use, which is #decentralized today and not dependent on any one site.
The article re-iterates the illusion that Bluesky is "Often seen as the alternative to Elon Musk's X".
