@mcc @mastodonmigration @ikuturso While admire the ... spirit?... of the effort they are putting into blacksky, it's ultimately futile. Why bother? There are easier, BETTER ways, freer ways, without betting on a #DTBO like #bluesky.

Dorsey did NOT create that to be a force for good; it's entirely for-profit (*), centralization of power, censorship and democracy eroding, all over again.

Why bother? Nah, thanks.

*- profit is not, necessarily, only money.

A good thread on some of lessons learned pertaining to centralized dependencies revealed by the Bluesky April 15 outage. In particular, issues relating to #Eurosky and #Blacksky and the complexity of actually creating systems that federate on AT Protocol.

@ikuturso: ...it turned out they where not quite as independent as they'd hoped (it's a complicated system)

@mcc: Bluesky is easier for entry level users to grasp, but as soon as things start going wrong, it gets CONFUSING.

What to Expect in a Bluesky April 15 Outage Incident Report

Here is an interesting thread discussing the type of information and analysis the we should expect from Bluesky regarding the outage last week that has been attributed to a DDoS attack. Note that the referenced blog post actually refers to a previous outage. We have not seen any detailed report on last week's incident yet. The next report from Bluesky on the April 15 incident is promised before tomorrow morning.
