Bluesky aren't part of the #fediverse due to different protocols that they use, #ATProto aren't compatible with #ActivityPub and gladly we have Bridgy Fed to connect between them. But, only a few millions of Bluesky accounts are really connected to Bridgy Fed. Also, even though Bluesky does have more users than in fediverse, they somehow still do have limitations in their backend. 300 characters per post? Sounds like it's still limited.
Also, most Bluesky users are coming from the U.S and then some countries like Brazil, Japan, and more. In Indonesia itself, Bluesky does have the same fate as the fediverse, being a minority. Well, centralisation still matters these days for anybody who doesn't give a damn about the social interactions.

Okey, so, #mastodon and #activitypub knowers: is there an established procedure for changing your server's domain?
I understand this case is (unfortunately) not covered by the protocol, and thus is not doable optimally. I don't care about that, I just want to know the closest to optimal method.
Is there some way to set up another instance on the new domain and migrate all the data over? Make some kinda redirect before ultimately abandoning the old domain some years down the road?

@redegelde@mastodon.social Yeah, if I were creating any kind of "social" site I'd definitely be adding #activitypub compatibility these days. But I'm looking for projects at the moment that turn existing websites into a single user #activitypub server.

Before I get sucked into writing my own... is there a light weight 'turn this site into an #activitypub' project out there already? Basically, add it to a static site and it treats all urls from that site (except the activity pub end points) as articles written by a user called @site@example.com or something similar. Bonus points for a little embed script that displays replies to the pages on the pages.

I've been meaning to finish my ActivityPub guide since I started the first draft back in June 2018.
Yeah, I got a bit busy with Pixelfed and my other projects, but I have been working on it periodically since then.
I really do think we have the advantage in many respects, and now we have fully featured AP SDKs like @fedify, now more than ever we need better dev resources and guides.
Can't wait to ship this!

Es sieht so aus, als wäre heute mein halbes Jahrzehnt im #Fediverse voll... ausgehend vom Account @nick@norden.social auf norden.social.
Und das bedeutet, daß ich vor so rund bummelig mehr oder weniger gut vier Jahren begonnen habe, mich in die zugrundeliegende Technik einzuarbeiten und auf die mehr oder weniger wahnsinnige Idee gekommen bin, einen eigenen #ActivityPub-basierten Server zu bauen.
Und ja, das tue ich noch... sogar gerade aktuell... das fediversale Serverkind habe ich #Mammuthus genannt (vgl. auch @nick@mammuthus.de) und ja, ich schreibe hier gerade von genau dieser #Software aus...
Dann drücke ich mir jetzt mal ganz frech selbst die Daumen, daß beim Erreichen des vollen Jahrzehnts Mammuthus mehr oder weniger voll fett im fediversalen Alltagseinsatz ist und möglicherweise auch ein paar (mehr) Leuten als Tor zum #Fediversum dient.
Und achso, um es erwähnt zu haben: Ich bringe #Rahlstedt ins #Fediverse.
#Rahlstedt ist natürlich der Stadtteil in #Hamburg und ich betreibe aktuell drei föderierende Instanzen: rahlstedt.de, rahlstedt.biz und rahlstedt.social (mit dem Fokus auf die unterschiedlichen Anwendungszwecke).
Und bevor dieser Beitrag noch länger wird... wünsche ich ein angenehmes Wochenende in die fediversale Runde!
