So I am using Scheme's Medea library to parse ActivityPub posts. It can process Mastodon and Snac just fine. But does not like some others, eg Iceshrimp.

I guess I will write a function to re-format the Iceshrimp json-ld so Medea likes it ... anyone know of examples or blog posts that have discussed this? To save me staring at the dreaded json-ld for so long...

Other Scheme libraries have the same problem with Iceshrimp posts. IDK if they may also have some issues with Misskey, Sharkey, Honk, etc etc, haven't got around to testing those yet.

“A protocol does not need to encode governance explicitly in order to shape it; it shapes governance by determining which mechanisms are easy to build, which are hard, and which are effectively impossible within the constraints the architecture imposes.”

A good read by @laurenshof on @fediversereport

RE: loops.video/v/evfCUcFtwa

One of the things I like about #loops and #ActivityPub in general is that you can follow a #loops account from #Mastodon and get the posts in your timeline here.

(Example below).

I'll also see the likes and comments on Mastodon back within Loops, which is cool as a creator.

It's a great feature for #TikTok expats

(I wish I didn't have to have multiple accounts on multiple servers or services to do this, but maybe that's something behind the scenes I'm not aware of.)

@steve

Have there been any further discussions on this? I think it’s becoming increasingly important!

@okami @gxmblingluv

Just had to add a workaround to #Fedify for http://joinmastodon.org/ns, a JSON-LD context URL that has never actually served a JSON-LD document. Mastodon has always inlined the term definitions, but some implementations put it as a bare URL in their @context, so Fedify's JSON-LD processor tries to fetch it and gets a 404 Not Found. Now Fedify ships a bundled copy of a context that never existed in the first place.

It seems virtually every website proudly shows off the icons in the footer, of all the walled-garden, proprietary Social Media platforms you can find them on. What is a good slang term to call this little patch of free advertising for these platforms? This is when nothing federated, or non-proprietary is offered (No #Mastodon, no RSS feed, no #ActivityPub services, etc)

I used to not like JSON-LD. And then I got exposed to CBOR. And, since then, I ended up liking JSON-LD more than I did before.

j12t.social/@j12t/114581086678

...

I was looking for performant ways of storing JSON-LD data, so that it can be looked up, queried, etc.

CBOR might actually be a way of doing that.

...

For me that is an odd realization given me liking JSON-LD is a reaction to CBOR.

RE: toot.fedilab.app/@apps/1162459

#PawFed is not limited to reports about animals found or in distress. You can use it to offer help or ask for it.

Use #offer when you provide help, #request when you need it, #info to share useful information.

Everything works through #ActivityPub. If you delete your original post mentioning @PawFed, the related report is automatically removed from the map. No database ghost. You stay in control of your data. (1/3)
