With @info, I had the problem that no notifications were sent to #Telegram for weeks. At the time, I had switched from PHP 8.0 to 8.3, and the PHP APCu module was missing (which I overlooked). So, interestingly, WP-Cron was not being processed. As soon as it was activated, the web sent out all the missing notifications - curiously, also via #ActivityPub to the Fediverse, which probably wasn't processed either. Sorry for the spam to the followers there :) #wordpress

Bei @info hatte ich das Problem, dass wochenlang keine Benachrichtungen an #Telegram rausgingen. Ich hatte zu dem Zeitpunkt von PHP 8.0 auf 8.3 gewechselt und dort fehlte das PHP-APCu-Modul (was ich übersah). Also wurde interessanterweise die WP-Cron nicht abgearbeitet. Kaum aktiviert schickte das Web alle fehlenden Benachrichtigungen raus - kurioserweise auch über #ActivityPub ins Fediverse, was wohl auch nicht abgerarbeitet wurde. Sorry für den Spam eben an die Follower dort :) #wordpress

In case you missed it, the fediverse is under attack by a Pro-Russian Propaganda Network. You can learn more about it in the blog post from @iftas below.
Here are two things everyone can do to help combat this:
1. If you see an account posting or spamming Telegram links, report it. Many of the accounts are impersonating news outlets — check verification status, the account's follower count, or the outlet's website to confirm if the account is real or fake.
2. Donate to your local mods if you can, or at least give them a big virtual hug and say thanks. They've been working tirelessly around the clock to combat this and deserve our gratitude and support.

Why do I say #ActivityPub is overly complex and difficult to implement?
I'd need to get into some very geeky weeds to explain exactly why and I'm not going to do that on a thread. But, suffice to say, there's only a small number of full-featured Fedi implementations out there for a reason. And every single one of them is using a protocol implementation directly tied to their overall implementation.

Today we have #ActivityPub, which provides real and actual #Federation, but is overly complex and difficult to implement, and we have ATProto, which promises Federation, but delivers central control and is even more complex and difficult to implement.
