@lino_jr @bonfire

Kind of both.

Mastodon is a short form social network for ActivityPub.

Bonfire is a framework to put together different configurable communities or social networks based on activitypub.

Both are interoperable because both use ActivityPub.

Mastodon sets out to create a single optimized interface for a short form social network. Bonfire sets out to let you create different interfaces that match what your unique community needs through extensions.

Both are awesome. :awesome: Both talk to each other to grow a stronger Fedi. 💪

Loops is federating with Mastodon and Pixelfed 🥳

I'm still doing some tests, and will be pushing the ActivityPub PR shortly ✨

Thanks for speaking up Rudy (even though he did throw a dig at #ActivityPub in the thread). Good luck! I fear that only now will we discover the limits there, after millions have made the move from #xitter etc to this "decentralized" platform.

I'd love to hear more from the other defenders of #ATproto. As Elon said, #bluesky is demonstrating that free speech does not mean freedom of reach. You may have your PDS but who effectively decides who gets to see your posts?

@discoverflux

I knew they were full of cr*p from the moment I read is built on a different protocol.

If they really wanted to be an equal part of the , they would've used and improved the same protocol - .

You'll know #bluesky is decentralized when its investors start cashing in.

#activitypub anyone know of any efforts to provide algorithm recommendations on Activity Pub? It could be a feed similar to #atproto, or it could users I might find interesting. As much as I like the people I come across here, superposters tend to drown out the chronological views

I've mentioned briefly that I was to co-lead the ActivityPub API taskforce, however, I've come to the decision to step down from that and focus my energy elsewhere:

Das hätte ich damals gebraucht: NodeBB

Früher habe ich ja Foren betrieben und wenn ich mir die Forensoftware NodeBB so anschaue, geht mir das Herz auf.

Since the influx of Blue Sky and Twitter users, Mastodon Dot Social had unfortunately — but temporarily — experienced a few Nazi accounts, all of which have since been removed. However, a few individuals are now wrongfully claiming that the Fediverse is no different, simply because a few bad individuals managed to make it here.

What they’re choosing to ignore is the key difference: those accounts were dealt with and rightfully removed. The fact that they weren’t caught immediately does not support the implications being made. 🙄

Haters are going to hate. 🤷

Alrighty, it looks like I tossed my name into the hat to assist here. We'll see where this goes.

Request to add mods to the NodeInfo spec so we can all know how many moderators are handing content moderation on any given instance in the fediverse. The idea came from @jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net wanting to know the ratio of mods:users on a instance.
