„Is Pixelfed sawing off the branch that the Fediverse is sitting on?“
Interesting article but I disagree with the premise:
The #ActivityPub protocol does not demand to display all messages.
Actually, it doesn’t make any sense even.
When I use #Pixelfed, I do that to see pictures only. That’s the whole point.
If I want to see more, I have to use a more generic platform, like #Mastodon.

I just installed Mbin using Docker, and when I tried to join a remote community, it showed a 500 error code. I'm not sure why. When I try to install federated software, it is always problematic with federation. I had installed Lemmy using Docker, but the same issue occurred. Therefore, I uninstalled both of them and forgot about them. I don't enjoy having them installed, honestly.

The proposed @w3c Social Web #WorkingGroup charter focuses on maintaining and updating key social Web standards, such as #ActivityPub, Activity Streams, WebSub, Activity Vocabulary, MicroPub, Linked Data Notifications and Webmention, taking up from the maintenance and incubation work conducted in the Social Web Incubator #CommunityGroup.

Deleting a post vs deleting an entire comment tree
For context:
Announce(Delete(Object)) for deletion of content — all synchronized communities follow suit and delete the content as well.https://activitypub.space/post/702
So, I got IndieAuth working on the site, as well as MicroPub. Feeds are being fed, but every note also has a separate node, not sure if that's normal. Also, I only tested one feed, still need to fully configure them all.
Gotta test Webmention/Pingback, gotta learn what WebSub is, and gotta see if my slapdash #IndieWeb implementation plays nice with an #ActivityPub implementation in #Drupal.
Productive day today. Good news tomorrow will mean even more to learn and do. For now, I sleep.
Back to @captaincalliope.blue's original pointsin this thread:
I want a new flagship #atproto app that isn't a Twitter clone on the surface.
Indeed -- Rudy Fraser talked a lot about this in his ATmosphereConf presentation. And the same is true here in fedi, where Mastodon is still dominant. I think of this in a couple dimensions
getting beyond microblogging, but still skeumorphic to well-known centralized systems (Pixelfed and Lemmy here; Flashes, Skylight, and Streamplace in the ATmosphere). If done well, that's valiuable in terms of getting people to the ecosystem (from an activism perspective, the lack of a skeumorphic approximation to Facebook groups is a huge barrier) but my guess this is still likely to have somewhat limited impact. When was the last time when a better skeumorphic app ever really caught on and displaced an incumbent>
less-skeumorphic software is where it really gets exciting. There's a lot of momentum here -- Bonfire, Bandwagon, Piefed are three good examples here in fedi, the stuff Blacksky is working in the ATmosphere -- but it's very hard to predict what will and won't catch on.
"I also want to see #activitypub get some of the primitives that #atproto has such as decentralized identifiers (except for real), personal data stores, content addresses, etc.
I want to see both protocols cross-pollinate with each other's strengths. And perhaps share infrastructure like identities."
Yeah, totally agree. I think t here's been some cross-pollination in both directions (Blacksky's local-only posts were directly inspired by Hometown, Mastodon's FASP and Fedisovery are somewhat influenced by AT's Relay-based architecture) but there's certainly a lot of room for improvement.
Tem ninguém aqui curioso em criar uma instância do #fediverso com #activitypub puro usando #forte ? Eu aconselho 😉 , mas é outro patamar

HELP!
We're wanting to be as #fediverse friendly as possible. We're changing up our #website and changing #podcast hosting service.
Our posts with our #wordpress site, should we use the #SeriouslySimplePodcasting plugin from #castos to host and then have each post on the website #federated through the #activitypub plugin?
Or should we use #CastoPod to host the episodes and then also still use the activity pub plugin to #federate the posts on the website.
Both?
Any #advice would be lovely!

Поднял минималистичный инстенс mitra - а mastodon с ним не хочет педерироваться, говорит 503, а курл нормально всё достаёт:
curl http://mitra.root.sx/users/l29ah --header 'Accept: application/activity+json'
