VPN use went up drastically on response to the Online Safety Act; understandably people don't want to risk giving personal data to the Age Verification companies. Calls to ban VPN began immediately, but didn't get anywhere as there was no proof of illegal use.
Block #twitter and many will use a VPN to access it. And then the UK government get to say people are using VPNs to access abuse material, and will then say they have cause to restrict VPN use to license holders.
