Telegram đang biến tính năng chống spam cơ bản thành một đặc quyền trả phí. Mặc định, cài đặt "Ai có thể nhắn tin cho tôi" được đặt là "Mọi người". Nếu muốn thay đổi để hạn chế tin nhắn từ người lạ, người dùng buộc phải nâng cấp lên tài khoản Premium.

Đây là một động thái khá trớ trêu đối với một ứng dụng vốn nổi tiếng về quyền riêng tư và sự kiểm soát của người dùng.
