#OmniOS is only available for the #RaspberryPi 4. But almost everything is. Pi 5 in 2025 is pretty much a Henry Ford misquote: You can have any operating system that you like as long as it is Raspbian or a derivative.

It's also experimental.

I'm really looking forward to the release of #Debian #Trixie (Debian 13). Going to be my simplifying my setup by moving all our computers (2 Geekom mini pc's, 1 laptop and various #RaspberryPi ) to the same OS. The only exception will be the RaspberryPi5 running #HomeAssistant which runs it's own Linux.

I used to have a little #RaspberryPi Zero running a Webcam on my wife's fish tank. Was a fun little project. After several years, the Webcam failed, so I brought the Pi into my home office to look at reusing it for something. A few weeks later, I noticed it had dropped off of the network. I looked for it, but couldn't find the pi. No idea where I stuck it. I thought maybe it fell off the desk into the trash, and I accidentally threw it out. But yesterday, it reappeared on the network. Where?!

I don’t even have the words…

I upgraded my #HomeAssistant Raspberry Pi 4 to a Pi 5 with an S2Pi combo PoE NVME HAT, and after installing Home Assistant and restoring from my backup and reconfiguring the static IP address in my router…

EVERYTHING WORKS LIKE I NEVER LEFT.
Even my USB-connected Zigbee and Z-WAVE controllers.

HOME ASSISTANT FOR THE WIN!!!
