Making some headway on my #raspberrypi based star finder scope using #onshape to design the housing. It should have most of the functionality that I need, but I think the front end will still get some love, as will the grating that fits over the exhaust fan.

Built a custom Raspberry Pi 4 RT OS using Buildroot.
Manually downloaded the Raspberry kernel (6.12.61) and PREEMPT_RT patch (6.12.57), applied locally and produced a bootable SD.
It works.
No GUI, CLI tools only, deterministic boot and real-time behavior.
Learning by doing 🤓

I've been tinkering with booting Ubuntu 24.04 LTS from NVMe on my Pi 5, but had been running into a kernel panic that was really unintuitive to diagnose. Turns out, the Pi 5's EEPROM was old and updating to latest solved my issue.

Was trying to repurpose one of my Pies today...
The official Raspberry Pi OS runs some "cloud" services and has Raspberry Pi Connect installed by default.
Not enthusiastic to wait and see the next level of enshitiffication, so looked for an alternative.
Tried #DietPi. Very colourful, but doesn't install without an internet connection. Tweaked a little, made some progress, but then it doesn't even poweroff without LAN ðŸ«

What could result in a connection refused on raspberry pi zero 2w, installation done with imager 2.0.0. I enabled configured my user, I configured my ssh key, I see both on the card.
I have 2 partitions bootfs and rootfs, I tried to add the ssh file into rootfs/boot/firmware, rootfs/boot and bootfs/ but I can't connect via ssh. (connection refused, I am sure of the user and IP as see it on my router)
Also the HDMI never powers up :(

#RaspberryPi Question. I'm getting errors about locale not available on clean fresh installs via RPImager on a RP4. Seems like it doesn't matter what install I do it is the same. 😟 Anyone a suggestion?

Got some time today and finished the initial setup of the Raspberry Pi 500+
It's running KDE Plasma 6.5.3 on Chimera Linux, Kernel Version 6.12.60-0-rpi
It always impresses me how much snapier Chimera feels on a Pi compared to Rapberry Pi OS (Debian Trixie)
