MultiCM Flasher enables parallel programming of Raspberry Pi Compute Modules

Estas semanas he estado aprendiendo a diseñar teclados mecánicos.

Ron Manosuthi sent in a patch recently to tech@ that should bring #RaspberryPI cpu frequency reclocking to #OpenBSD https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=176879016806867&w=2

I'm looking for an easy way to store some metadata (just a few bytes) with some electronic components.
The project involves #RaspberryPi computers operating a camera and lighting to attract and image night-flying insects.
The lighting includes two components: 1) a set of white high-power LEDs to provide illumination for the camera, and 2) a set of UV, white, green and blue high-power LEDs to attract the insects. I make up these components and attach them to the RPi with pluggable cables. See: https://amt.hobern.net/ to get the idea.
Based on power availability, portability and other considerations, the number and type of LEDs in each component may be different. The camera illumination may use 3 or 6 LEDs or substitute with a ring-light. The attractant may be 6 UV + 1 white + 1 green + 1 blue or 3 UV + 1 white + 1 green + 1 blue or just 3 UV. I want switching lighting components to be plug-and-play.
It's also important to record metadata on the configuration actually used for any session. Right now, it's the responsibility of the user to remember to update a configuration file if they change the lighting. This is error-prone.
I'd be interested in including something in each component that the RPi can read to determine the lights in use. Is there an easy and reasonably cost-effective way to do this? I can easily use cables with more pins. Is there a cheap solid-state component that I can include in each lighting unit and that I can simply flash with some short string or a few bytes and that I can read from the RPi side?
Or am I just wasting time on this thought exercise?
A power supply HAT for the #RaspberryPi that goes further than most, next, by offering not only respectably wide input voltage range and full 5V5A output *but* power control based on time, temperature, and input voltage.

Been a bit of a hectic day today, so the #Hackster round-up is a little later than usual.
To start, a leftover from last week that only went up on Sunday: a look at the Arquebus 3D-printed #RaspberryPi cyberdeck.
(Looks like it was flagged by S&P: my original headline said "battlefield," but now it just say "field"...)

@rpimag I started CAD work on my first fully autonomous #raspberryPi robot. An A2 class #HackyRacer to compete in the robotics racing series event in April. I am starting with a 4WD suspension based on the #OpenRC car V5 design by #CreativeElectronics https://linktr.ee/CreativeElectronics adapted to be an off roader. #MakerMonday

Filing away a little off the PCBs worked, my latest #MechanicalKeyboard is coming together - now with a #RaspberryPi RP2040-Zero soldered in each half, and the switches done. Waiting on the through hole TRRS sockets (should be OK), and the surface mounted 5-way navigation buttons - they’ll be tricky to solder I fear!

The only oddity is that the Multimedia menu item appears twice although only one of them appears in LibreMenu.
So far it has not caused any obvious problems so I will leave it for now.
The RPi 5 is now being used as a desktop computer and for comsuming media.
It is also now our main Luanti server, hosting games for us on our LAN.
It works surprisingly well,
The RPi4 is still used as a desktop computing device for general use.
1/n I had a Raspberry Pi 4 running bullseye. It is now running trixie.
I used this page to go from bullseye to bookwork.
https://blog.scheib.me/2024/04/14/upgrade-raspberry-bullseye-bookworm.html
I then followed this post to upgrade from bookworm to trixie.

Finally I made a copy of the drive image, popped it in a Raspberry Pi 5 and discovered it fixed the problem with FreeTube on my RPi 5s.
The FreeTube window used to go blank aftar a short period of time and now it works normally.
