@pamelafox oooh, interesting. I hadn't realized there was that much support for Optional.

I kind of get it, even if I don't think I agree, personally.

Where does Python store the attributes for objects?

Usually it's in a __dict__ dictionary.

The built-in vars() function will return the __dict__ dictionary for an object.

@ThePSF That means only 130 people/companies donated what my company did (on average). Out of the millions of companies where #Python is mission-critical?

COME ON PYTHON USERS! Tell your boss how much damage undetected malware in PyPi would cause - and cost. Get them to donate a fraction of that cost NOW to prevent it happening - probably the best return on investment your company will ever get!

It's hard not to see the huge upswell of community support for #Python and the @ThePSF and not feel sadly vindicated in recent criticism of the state of the #Ruby community.

Python is unbelievably popular, shed its outdated BDFL model years ago and built better governance, and has found broad application across dozens of vertical industries.

Ruby barely holds above legacy language water (Objective-C, Groovy), offers one big (fashy) framework, and governance is objectively in disarray.

@rasmus91 @sloanlance @bagder @ThePSF and sometimes a reliable tool that gets most things done easily is oftentimes better than the perfect tool that requires decades of mastering.

And #Python does just that
