Despite being a small organization where an NSF grant of "$1.5 million over two years would have been quite a lot of money for us," the PSF stood up for its principle. #respect

Python Software Foundation: Equal Opportunity More Important Than US Funding - By Rainald Menge-Sonnentag
Well folks, I'm looking for work again. Remote (Canada) or hybrid in Toronto. I'm a SEIT looking for senior roles. Python preferred, but I can work with Java, NodeJS, or others.
New OWSLib release: https://github.com/geopython/OWSLib/releases/tag/0.35.0 #geopython #osgeo #python #ogc
"These terms included affirming the statement that we “do not, and will not during the term of this financial assistance award, operate any programs that advance or promote DEI, or discriminatory equity ideology in violation of Federal anti-discrimination laws.” This restriction would apply not only to the security work directly funded by the grant, but to any and all activity of the PSF as a whole."

Based on @lorenipsum's post about python being all backbone (software) and @ThePSF's refusal to roll over. I give you my sticker idea¹
Notes: This confluence of puns tickles me. Yella belly, supine being sounding like serpentine and spine and being upside-down, aforementioned backbone, nod to "don't tred on me" and *maybe* a wink to Tiresias and hitting snakes.
OK back to code.

@ProgressiveLurker @kkarhan @rasmus91 @bagder @ThePSF If anybody was ***denigrating*** #Python here, I think it was not @kkarhan. The worst thing he wrote is that he's not a fan of it. OTOH, some *other* people were far more negative. *[ahem]*
Hell yeah #python!!

from uuid6 import uuid7This feels like a zoomer meme. Is this a zoomer meme?@sloanlance @rasmus91 @bagder @ThePSF OFC the comparison is oversimplified, but when you look at it from the surface, the #RaspberryPi #Pi400 is basically the modern interpretation of the concepts we saw with #ZXspectrum, #VIC20 and other #8bit systems.
And #Python makes it easy to "make stuff go brrr!" and the @RaspberryPi / @raspberry_pi / #RaspberryPiFoundation and their excellent guide which is free to download as PDF and included in the #Kits for Pi400 & #Pi500 makes it easy to do things and overcome any problems along the way, reducing frustration and increasing happyness for beginners with easy to follow step-by-step guides.

For all you #programmer folks out there, a question.
I have taken a semester and a half of #Python (the class transitioned into #CPP/C++). I enjoyed both languages for different reasons and I enjoy working on small projects for myself.
Is there another language out there that would work better for that, or would it make more sense to continue to focus on Python for personal applets, since I'm not looking to turn this into a career?
I use Windows at work but Linux on my home machines.
