Python rejects $1.5m US government grant to avoid compromising ethics with anti-DEI policies
Anti-DEI requirements pose ‘enormous, open-ended financial risks’, Python Software Foundation argues.

Currently, I am writing an app[1] using #Python and #tk or #tkinter. I must say, this is a pleasant, no big setup, experience. Since I don't care too much how the UI looks, and actually think that the "everything be flat" epidemic did not bring better UI in general, and also don't plan to create mobile phone versions of the app, I find the results very acceptable, as long as the widgets do what I want, without being super complicated to use.

If you're new to #Python, then you might not know there are some fun Easter eggs in the language! 🐍🥚

👋 Friends, #Django's fundraiser is running through November 11th (kindly ignore the 9th, that's being fixed) and the foundation could use your support to continue our mission.
While I happily support the PSF in their mission, this is the DSF's biggest fundraiser every year, and even if you aren't a JetBrains user, our foundation could use your support.
Support the DSF via PyCharm:

The #PSF has withdrawn a $1.5 million proposal to US government grant program
https://pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-funding-statement.html
In order to not comply with stupid #Trump rules, the #Python community rejected a very important #funding grant by the #USA.
Therefore, this rather poor #FOSS project shows more #ethics, #morale and spine than multi-billion Dollar #Megacorps like #Apple, #Google, #Microsoft and others.
#Respect 👍
hmm today i will install a #python program without being surprised to discover that i have other python programs that will break because the python virtual environment apparently wasn't all that virtual
