Oxylabs is a well known web scraping company with ten years experence.
They have created a #Python web scraper package. You can use Oxylabs to get data from e-commerce websites, search engines, real estate platforms, and more.
Here's a simple example of scraping Bing search results:

Using a GPX trail captured on the #Edinburgh Tram, going from one end to the other (Newhaven to Airport)
You can see the journey to Haymarket is fairly slow as the tram shares the route with other road traffic.
After that, it speeds up a lot, as the route is separate from normal traffic.
(The height of the 'flame' is the speed)

Released holm 0.6 with a big new feature: actions.
If you don't know, it's a Python SSR framework for HTMX, built with FastAPI. Think FastHTML on steroids with NextJS-like DX.
There's now a 5min guide for those in a hurry, and plenty of examples: https://volfpeter.github.io/holm/in-a-hurry/
I would love your feedback (or a boost to get out of my tiny network 😃).

starting to see folks use f-strings in #python logging, really hate that. you're throwing away so much structured data.
One huge part of #Python's success is a governance process that's owned by the community, and doesn't give Big Tech an outsized voice – let alone the ability to make decisions. That's how Python's been in the right place at the right time for more than 30 years now.
But that means we can't charge millions of dollars for favourable treatment. This limits our revenue! But it also means if you're a small donor or sponsor, you – and the whole community – will absolutely benefit from your gift.
Dropped into a pretty good flow state last night and resolved an issue with `textual` that was preventing me from moving forward with my #Python #BBS software. They had changed the way the Linux "driver" for console input/output was organized, which had broken handling of the ESC key (which also meant arrow keys, etc. were busted).
I've tried to correct this a couple of times in the past, but just couldn't wrap my head around the updated driver code for one reason or another. Last night, it clicked into place. I am incredibly happy, as this project holds a special place in my heart and will (hopefully) be the platform that a couple of future projects will stand on the shoulders of.

Did you know @ThePSF is a charity that runs on a budget that is a vanishingly small proportion of the money that Python-using corporations make, but we still put on PyCon US, run PyPI, and (try to) fund grants that support Python events all around the world.

They are so many different reasons to write #Code in so many different #ProgrammingLanguage(s). Here are a few: which is your favorite? Which are you good at? Which is your team good at? Which is supported at your company? Which is best supported in the community? Which is best suited to your actual problem? Which has appropriate libraries (and again, consider your problem domain)? Which has good tools? Which is the least expensive to actually develop in (time, money, tools, deployment)?
There absolutely is no "best" language. You are absolutely going to compromise somewhere. Maybe you won’t even consider these questions, e.g., a #CSharp shop might just go with C# regardless. A #Python expert might just choose Python. Sometimes all these questions don’t matter. Sometimes they do.
🐍✨ EuroPython 2025 in Prague, Czechia, was a fantastic experience... already looking forward to the next edition ✨🐍
👉 I gave a talk on how you can 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.
🔥 A perfect combination to get this started is running MicroPython on Cheap Yellow Display (CYD) boards.
