Conda in the Packaging Spectrum: From pip to Docker to Nix
If conda is a distribution, where does it fit alongside pip, Docker, and Nix? Part 2 of the 3-part series! ๐
We explore conda's unique "middle pathโ. Why it's lighter than containers, more powerful than language-specific package managers, and uniquely portable through its clever approach to system dependencies.

I admit that I used assembler, Pascal, C, Lisp, Ada, C++, Java, SQL, and lastly Python without a thought to who was paying to create and extend the language.
I was never concerned for the future of my programming language if I didnโt donate money to keep it alive. In fact, it seemed like every few years, a new language emerged forcing me to invest learning skills to reap the benefits over my โoldโ language and development processes.
Something has changed that I donโt understand.

@ThePSF ๐ญ A genuine question:
Should the PSF continue to sustain PyCon US directly?
Itโs the flagship Python event, but it also seems to consume a large portion of PSF funds with limited benefit for the global community.
Wouldnโt it make more sense for PyCon US to rely more on external sponsorships and partnerships, instead of drawing so much from the PSF itself?
Also, how much support do regional PyCons receive by comparison?

Habt ihr Tipps oder gibt es gute Konventionen um es Neulingen in #Python einfacher zu machen mit Einrรผckungen umzugehen?
Bonus: wenn es dabei auch im Print Sachen geht.
Read the full post to see how the PSF is tackling these challenges and how you can help power the future of Python. Many of you have donated in the past week- so we are looking for you to help us with reach. Please share this story, boost our upcoming fundraiser posts, and most importantly, tell the world your #Python story!
Even still, weโre raising the flag early: the PSF has only ~6 months of runway and needs your support to sustain essential #Python & #PyPI infrastructure, #PyConUS, and, hopefully, to reopen our Grants Program.
