„Also on November 1st, we will impose Export Controls on any and all ciritical software“ – der letzte Satz von Donald Trumps Truth-Social-Post sollte ernst genommen werden: Der US-Präsident ist bereit, Software als Druckmittel in einem Handelskonflikt einzusetzen.
Zwar richten sich die Maßnahmen zunächst gegen China, trotzdem muss auch die EU hier gewarnt sein:
US-Präsident Trump hatte bereits vor einem Monat auf seiner Plattform Truth Social EU-Regularien gegen US-Techfirmen kritisiert und mit ähnlichen Gegenmaßnahmen gedroht. Dass also auch US-Software und Technologie-Exporte in den europäischen Raum als Druckmittel genutzt werden können, ist somit ab sofort ein reales Szenario, auf das die Staaten vorbereitet sein müssen.
ZenDiS-Geschäftsführer Alexander Pockrandt sagt dazu: "Die US-Regierung führt erstmals Exportkontrollen für Software ein. Technologie wird zum Druckmittel, zu einer ‚Waffe‘ im Handelskonflikt. Digitale Souveränität ist für Deutschland wie die EU eine Verpflichtung und damit eine Staatsaufgabe."
