Element не работает
Вечером 2 сентября 2025 года в #Element случился сбой, и коммуникация через их сервер #matrix.org стала невозможной.
Пользователей на других серверах это никак не затронуло, и этот инцидент станет для нас хорошим уроком.
На их аккаунте в Mastodon сообщается, что для восстановления работы потребуется время.
Возможно, стоит рассмотреть переход на #Briar.

So, matrix.org is down. On the other hand, Matrix is not down. It is a federated system with many different homeservers, most of which are running fine.
The homeserver I use is not down. BUT... since most people use the matrix.org server, it's almost as the whole matrix is down. Most people are unreachable.
Damn it, people. Stop using the flagship servers. Stop using matrix.org and, since we're on mastodon, stop using mastodon.social.

But, can one do better?
Maybe there could be a better user guiding for new registrations in #Matrix #Apps (#Element, #ElementX) to give a better choise for #Homeservers instead to lead people always to matrix.org.

Damn, the #matrix (matrix.org) homeserver outage is pretty crazy. I always thought having backups will save your day when disaster strikes, but that's just part of the equation. The ability to recover with minimal downtime is a different ballgame altogether.

#MatrixDown: So, is the main issue of #Matrix too many users using the main instance, a condition actively pushed by #Vector, creating half-centralized ecosystem?
Is it the issue that #Matrix servers are a overly complex and resource hungry systems, which are hard to administrate and even harder to troubleshoot? 🤔
Or is it a combination of these problems? Hmmm. 👀

Speaking of Matrix global services occasionally exacerbating one's propensity for migraines, oh look a total outage for the malignant design... oh but they tell everyone a fantastic story:

except that they deployed via an active/passive two node PostgreSQL backend which just crashed both nodes and took 55TB of network data offline. also their TLS termination is fronted by CloudFlare (anything in back of TLS termination is not TLS encrypted).
